Our work
Real work you can look at. First, websites we built for clients. Then our own site, where every service we sell is running. Finally, a case study showing how we took it to 100 on Google PageSpeed Insights.
Proof you can see, not promises
Anyone can say they build good websites. So instead of big claims, this page shows the work itself: sites we have built for real businesses, the live site you are looking at now, and a case study with the numbers. Results vary depending on the offer, the product, demand, quality and the systems in place, so we show what we built and how it works.
Work previously completed
Before Grow Better Digital, Daniel Winterton built websites for local businesses at a Peterborough-based growth specialist, where he was a Director before leaving to pursue separate ventures. These previous happy clients range from a Peterborough electrician to an online hair care shop. We built each site around what the business needed, so the features differ from one to the next.
For comparison, you can also see our work on this very site. Together, they show the kind of build you can expect.

Electrical contractor, Peterborough
Tumber Electrical: a service website for a Part P electrician, with every service in its own category
Tumber Electrical needed a site that makes it easy to ask for work. First, services such as EICRs, consumer unit upgrades and EV chargers each have their own category. Also, visitors can ask for a quote, a call-back or a specialist job, upload photos, and message on WhatsApp for emergencies.
- Ten service categories, from fault finding to EV charger installation
- Quote, call-back and specialist-job enquiry options with photo upload
- Google reviews and opening hours shown on the page
Built on WordPress, connected to your tools

Handyman, Wirral
Trusted Handyman Wirral: a clear one-page site for a busy local handyman
Trusted Handyman Wirral wanted visitors to see what is on offer and get in touch fast. So the page lists around twelve service types, explains a simple four-step process, and keeps a sticky call button in view. In addition, a short form lets customers choose how they want to be contacted.
- About twelve service categories on one easy-to-scan page
- Four steps from evaluation to completion
- Call button and enquiry form with contact preferences

ECU remapping, Peterborough
Inject Tuning: a performance tuning site with a bought-in DVLA vehicle-data connection
Inject Tuning needed more than a brochure site, because the business works with vehicles. So we added a connection to DVLA vehicle data using a third-party plugin, which we chose and set up for them. In addition, the site has a quote form, WhatsApp and call buttons, and a payment option for customers.
- DVLA vehicle-data integration using a third-party plugin
- Quote form with WhatsApp and call buttons
- Services and reviews sections in a bold, vehicle-led design
Social media management

Barber-made hair care, UK
Gulli Products: an online shop for a barber-made hair care brand
Gulli Products sells styling creams online, so the site is built as a shop. For example, customers can subscribe and save, create an account, track orders and read the delivery and returns policies. Meanwhile, an affiliate programme lets others promote the brand.
- WooCommerce shop with subscribe-and-save
- Customer accounts, order tracking and an affiliate dashboard
- Clear shipping, returns, privacy and complaints pages

Property and business services, Peterborough
ASAP City Services: a large multi-service website with a page for every job
ASAP City Services covers clearances, removals, waste, cleaning, fencing and landscaping. Therefore, the site groups dozens of services under clear menus, with a Get a Quote button and click-to-call number always in reach. Also, an enquiry form takes file uploads and the customer's preferred contact method.
- Services grouped into clearance, garden, fencing, removal, waste, cleaning and commercial
- Quote and enquiry forms with file upload and WhatsApp chat
- Trust badges and customer reviews
Advertising platforms

Roofing and solar, Peterborough
RB Legacy Roofing: a photo-led roofing site with a quote button on every service
RB Legacy Roofing needed to show real work and make quoting simple. As a result, every service has its own enquiry button, and the form accepts photos for specialist jobs. In addition, visitors can call or message on WhatsApp, and reviews sit on the same page.
- Roofing, chimney, flat roof, solar and guttering services
- Quote buttons per service and photo upload for specialist jobs
- Click-to-call, WhatsApp and customer reviews

Built on our own site
First, we built Grow Better Digital with the same services we sell to clients: web design, ecommerce, SEO, content, booking and CRM automation. Each section below shows a screenshot of the live site.
Before you read on, one point needs saying clearly. These screenshots show what we build and how it looks and works. They are also not client results, and we do not publish invented figures or reviews. However, when client projects are finished, and clients give us permission, their case studies will appear here.

Web design
A fast, clear website on every screen
First, the homepage tells a visitor who we are, what we do and what to click next, within the first screen. Also, on a phone, headings, images and buttons are centred, and every tap target is big enough for a thumb.
- Mobile-first layout, tested at phone and desktop widths
- One clear action per section, so visitors know what to do
- Branded colours and typography used consistently on every page
Local SEO and Google

CRM and automation
Emails that follow up, so you do not have to
So when someone enquires, books or buys, our CRM sends the right email at the right time. In total, we run 17 automated sequences and 78 branded emails, personalised by interest and by where the person is in the customer journey. Also, every email has a clear call to action, a one-click unsubscribe and a preferences link.
- Different sequences for each service interest and stage
- Branded, mobile-friendly emails written around customer worries and goals
- Unsubscribe and preference links in every email

Ecommerce
Fixed prices and a basket that does the sums
In short, our package builder lets a visitor pick services, see every price up front and check out without waiting for a quote. Also, it runs on WooCommerce, the same platform we set up for online shops, with VAT shown clearly.
- Plain-English service cards with fixed prices
- A live total that updates as you choose
- Works the same on a phone as on a desktop

Areas we work in

Booking and bespoke work
Online booking that fills the diary for you
Simply put, visitors can book a free 30-minute video call without an email chain. For example, booked slots disappear from the calendar, times are shown in UK time, and a confirmation arrives straight away. In fact, it is the same booking set-up we can build for a salon, a clinic or a consultant.
- Live calendar with no double-bookings
- Automatic confirmation and reminders
- Booking details flow into our CRM so follow-up is automatic
SEO
Local pages written for local searches
First, we built more than 200 location pages, each one written around the facts of its own area rather than a copied template. In addition, every page has its own title and description, a clear heading structure, internal links and a place in the XML sitemap, so search engines and people can find it.
- Unique titles and meta descriptions on every page
- Clear headings, internal links and a human-readable sitemap
- Pages checked for readability and keyword use before they go live

Everything under one roof

Content
A blog that answers real customer questions
Because helpful articles earn trust before anyone speaks to you, our blog covers AI, search and local marketing in plain English, with categories, clear headlines and internal links to the services each article relates to.
- Plain-English articles with clear headings
- Each post links to the service it supports
- Optimised for search and easy to share
Case study: 100 on Google PageSpeed Insights, mobile and desktop
We took our own website, a WordPress and WooCommerce site with a page builder, a shop and a full set of plugins, and tuned it until Google PageSpeed Insights gave it 100 for Performance, Accessibility, Best Practices and SEO, on mobile and on desktop. It also scores 2 out of 2 for Agentic Browsing. This is exactly what we can do for your site.
The result
Both reports were run on the live home page at pagespeed.web.dev on 30 October 2026. When we started, the mobile Performance score was in the low sixties.

Scores move by a few points between tests, because Google measures on a simulated phone and a slow connection. We do not promise a specific number, but we do show you the before and after reports.
What it takes to get to 100
A perfect score is not one setting. It needs all of these in place at the same time:
- Access. A WordPress administrator login, plus access to the caching and CDN layer so changes show up for Google's test.
- A working cache. Full-page caching, long browser cache lifetimes for images, fonts and scripts, and a correct purge so visitors and Google never see an old copy.
- Right-sized, modern images. WebP, the correct size for each screen, explicit width and height, and the main image loaded first.
- Fast, stable fonts. Fonts loaded from your own server and preloaded, so text appears at once and nothing jumps.
- Nothing blocking the first paint. Scripts deferred and non-essential styles loaded after the page appears.
- Only the code each page needs. Unused plugin styles and scripts removed page by page.
- A lean page structure. A large page is split so the browser only builds what is on screen first.
- Accessibility done properly. Readable colour contrast, headings in order, labelled controls, unique IDs and sensible link names.
- Clean SEO and best-practice signals. Titles, descriptions, crawlable links and secure, modern code.
- A page that is easy for AI agents to read. Clear structure and named buttons and links, which is what the Agentic Browsing check looks at.
- Repeat testing. Several runs on mobile and desktop, because a single result can be a fluke.
What we changed on our own site
This was a lot more than installing a speed plugin. These are the main changes, in the order they mattered:
- Converted the home page images to WebP and replaced oversized originals, cutting image weight sharply.
- Swapped a heavy background photo for a lightweight gradient, so the biggest thing on screen paints almost instantly.
- Fixed the main image downloading twice at two different sizes.
- Made the main image smaller on phones, so the headline becomes the largest element Google measures, then checked it stays sharp.
- Deferred jQuery and every script that depends on it, removing about 600 milliseconds of render blocking.
- Loaded non-critical stylesheets after the page appears.
- Removed a 51 KB block of unused inline styling and stopped loading unused theme fonts.
- Moved the two display fonts onto our own server, preloaded them and set matching fallbacks, which brought layout shift to zero.
- Used content visibility so the browser skips the parts of a long page that are not on screen yet.
- Fixed colour contrast on text and buttons, including a bright red button that now follows the brand colours.
- Corrected the heading order, removed duplicate IDs and tidied labels and slider markup.
- Set long cache lifetimes and made sure the host's edge cache refreshed whenever we changed a page.
Does it matter for every page?
PageSpeed Insights tests one page at a time, but most fixes are shared across the whole site. We test one page from each type, such as the home page, a service page, a product, a blog post and the shop, and the shared improvements carry across all of them.
Want the same for your site?
Our PageSpeed Insights Optimisation service starts at £119 ex VAT, fixed price (with optional upkeep at £24.99 ex VAT per month), with before and after reports. We work on WordPress and WooCommerce sites.
